Jaime S. - Greek Language Instructor, living in Greece for over 20 years. Experienced in teaching privately, adults and children, and taught for 6 years at a Greek School in California.

I fell in love with Greece through its music. I was finishing up my degree at the New England Conservatory in Boston as a Violin Performance major when I came across old recordings of Greek music. After graduation, I won a Fulbright scholarship to go to Athens to study the music. I wanted to learn the language as well for many reasons. It was important to me to understand the lyrics of the songs that I was learning, and also I felt that the only way that I could truly understand the Greek people was by learning their language. I started taking classes and within about 5 years I was fluent. It has been the single most important thing that I did, because now I feel that I am one of them. I have also enjoyed an exciting career as a violinist playing with some of the best singers and artists. I now lead a life in both countries. I bring Greek musicians to the States to perform Greek music, and I continue to perform all around Greece. My daughter is bilingual, and this is one of the biggest gifts, I think, that we have given her. I was invited to teach at the Annunciation Greek School in Sacramento, CA, and was there for 6 years as a Greek Language Instructor. I love teaching this language to all ages.
