How do I decide what old notes to keep or to throw away?

Anything that would not relate to a course you would take in the future I think is fair game to toss. Gen Ed notes and notes that relate to your core major are worth keeping in my opinion!
If it's for a GE I throw them out if I don't plan on taking another GE related to it or if it's something that never interested me to begin with. If they are notes of content that interested me or that had to do with my major, I keep them because they might become helpful in later classes in my major.
If all your notes are on your computer, I would say to save them until the end of college. If the notes are on paper, I would think to throw away notes after each school year depending on the class and what you need or don't need.
Take a look at the notes from each class. If you see them helping you out in the future, hang on to them. This is important for major classes! Books and notes might answer some of your questions when you're in the field after college.
