He’s the worst professor in the world

Honestly, i never complain about teachers and that is why i didn't even know about this site until i got this professor. He is by far the worst math teacher i have ever had, and i've had some pretty bad ones. Not does his english SUCK, but he sucks at teaching also. I guess if he tried, i would not be so frustrated, but he wastes sooo much time. He not only comes to class late, but also to tests, and also lets us out later than we're supposed to be there. He doesn't realize that some of us actually has a life after this class and we have a set schedule. He always goes off tangent, talking about his views on life and such. I don't think he understands that noone gives a CRAP. If he sees you look down at your lap, he automatically assumes you are texting or something. He also does not know how to write exams and makes it so they are like 3 hours long. He focuses on the trivial aspects of statistics as opposed to the main concepts. I don't think i have ever had a meaningful conversation with this teacher. I honestly think that either he is a pothead or just has major ADHD. If i can say one good thing, it is that he gets excited over the littlest things. But he is not funny at all, his jokes are terrible and sometimes i can't even tell if he was serious about telling that joke. He told us our first test grade like 3 weeks after taking it and we did not get to know our grade on the next 3 tests. He screwed everyone over by going through 2 of the hardest chapters of the book in one session and the next week assigned us a test two days beforehand. Honestly i can go on and on and on and on about the things he does that frustrates everyone, but due to time limitation, i will end it here. This guy taught me that i should start using sites like reviewum.com. I honestly do not even know how he became a professor. If you do not want to deal with bull crap, then do not take his class, don't even enroll. He should not be a professor. He's a nice guy i guess, but just don't take him. Unless you want to deal with one of the worst semesters.

why is it that people whom have so much difficulty speeking and pronunciating the english language allways see math as the choice subject to teach? This guy began the semester being pretty light hearted working hard to paint this picture of himself decadent with all the colors of a layed back easy going person. Who would of course be putting everything necessary out there on the table for all his students successed. Giving us a oral syllabis straight from his hard to clearly hear mouth. And did Imention that the syllabis took no less than 4 days to get through. just when we all thought the agony was over and he would begin to teach a add-in would arrive and he would begin all over. Come on, the xerox machine was created for men of this calaber. To sum this up. His self image to to say the least is a bit foggy. He lingers on and on about things of his choosing then rushes through some of the most difficult parts of the semester @ at lightning speeds. Ie a chapter in one day, two nights. We were in the dark about our grades the entire time, yet he kept on rollin on with question marks a float above each students head. "Did he just say?" "no,I think he said this" "oh" "I think" By the time we took our comprehensive final we had only 2 test from the semester to review from and about 4% of our homework back. Lets just say he is one of those teachers thats in an involved relationship with his red pen, it would be wise for him to trade it in for a psychologist. You get what little work you get back swimming in red ink. At first glance your kinna optimistic that there are corrections to learn from but even that expetation falls short. He scribbles huge question marks all over the paper and the only phrases he seems to know when writing are" Beautiful" or "how did you get from here to there? Class average record breakingly low. Take this teacher if you are looking to remind or redifine for yourself what the word incompetent means in this world. he failed to do his job although he did do a good job explaining things on the board when he did.

My problem was that I was never good at math to begin with. So I didn't do very well in Emanual's class. However, I will say that he is the friendliest guy and really does care about the sucess of his students. If you aren't to hot in the subject of statistics I don't know if I would take his class. I just found it kind of hard and a bit boring. However, if you are good at math, take him! Like I said, he really does care and I wish I were better at math, but I'm not, so I'll probably take a different math teacher if I have to take math again. But Emanuel is a great guy!! He also gives extra credit if you go to math lab hours, so do that it'll help out your grade a lot!!

ok he was definitely not as bad as all these people are painting him out to be.he is a sweet man who has such a strong passion for math...that is why he teaches it...regardless of his ability (or lack thereof according to SOME) to speak english. true, sometimes he tends to go into great detail while explaining a concept, but that is only because he wants the students to understand. if one is unsatisfied with the repetitive and "unhelpful" comments on tests, he/she should go up to him and ASK about it! i enjoyed this class and found emmanuel to be one of the most helpful teachers i have ever encountered.

First of all, it is evident that the person below isn't very good at math OR english, because he spelled Emmanuel's last name wrong. It's Akanyirige. I'm not that great at math either, but I found Emmanuel to be very helpful especially in the self-paced class. He also has some really good tutors that help a lot and really know their stuff in that class. Don't be discouraged by any of these comments, I was too at first, but once I got to know Emmanuel, I think he's really one of the better teachers at CHE.

This teacher is extremely unorganized and gives out homework without reviewing the topic first. He does not follow his own curriculum, nor does he tell you when "supposed" scheduled quizzes are going to be, so no one can prepare. I feel that as math is such a difficult subject, he really needs to get it together and be more organized and efficient. Unless you really love math, or are a sado-masicist and like punishment, DO NOT take math with this teacher ever!!!!!!!!!!!!

The absolute worst math teacher I`ve ever had. His lectures are a joke (it takes him over an hour to explain a single concept, and nobody still understands it) and collected assignments are never returned. Tests are corrected illogically and with no explination of what errors (if any) were made. Unhelpful and confrontational in person. Avoid at all costs.

THE WORST MATH TEACHER EVER!!!!! i am usually a good mathe student who never complains about teachers but geez he is the worst. where do i begin. his tests are hard because you never know whats on them and he doesn't prepare you for them, and he'll subtract points for little things. we didn't get our first test back for about 2 months. he never gives back assignments.the way he teaches doesn't make sense. he'll give you homework on a new subject then teach you the subject the next day. he'll spend about an hour on a 15 minute problem. he's a bully he'll pick on you. if you forget your textbook he'll stop the class and lecture you on it. if you aren't taking notes the way he wants he'll stop the class and lecture you. if he thinks you aren't paying attention he'll stop and stare at you for a long time. if you are texting in class he'll walk up to you and take your cellphone away without giving you any warnings. he goes off on random tangents. he spent 30 minutes discussing how to cook vegetables. he'd come 10 minutes late to class, then keep the class 15 minutes after. he'll tell you the homework last minute. on the last day before the final he gave a us a test that we had already taken then taught us a new topic that will be on the final. then he's holding a review and will tell us what will be on the test on a day when we are not supposed to be in class. once when we were taking a test he stopped us and taught us a topic that was on the test. HE IS HORRIBLE. i'm a well mannered student and i usually do very well in math, but this teacher is soo bad. several students from my class myself included are thinking about going to the dean to talk about this teacher. i wish you the best of luck if you have this teacher

Taking statistic in his class was somewhat confusing and hard to follow. He was nice and very lenient with the grading. I got an A on his class, although I may not be the smartest student. He knows which students give an effort in his class. My tips, if you want to get an A on his class: be nice and give an effort. Personally, I don't recommend him as your Stat. teacher.

By far the worst teacher I have ever had! I have nothing positive to say about the professor other than I did get a passing grade. Regardless of whether or not you actually want to learn anything, I would not recommend anyone taking his classes. He is late to every class and holds the entire class over a minimum of 15 minutes everytime. He never returns any work yet he gives alot of it.

Emmanuel is the most honorable person you will ever meet. His Ghanaian accent takes a little getting used to, but he will gladly restate whatever you haven't understood (he knows that his accent makes some words difficult to understand). I haven't been in a math class since the early 70', and was an absolute novice in Algebra. Emmanuel writes and works problems on the board, goes over important ideas several times, and is, I believe, a very patient teacher. He requires that you have your book, paper and pencil for every class. You will use them, and he doesn't take any excuses on this. He is firm, but fair, and that's all you can ask from a teacher. I would gladly have him as an instructor again!

whoever wrote the comment ""Doesn't make sense when he is speaking. doesn't explain things to well. Hard to understand."" (two comments down) .. i bet it's hard for you to understand a lot being in math 75.. and have taken statistics i'm guessing that the probability that you passed is pretty low seeing you are criticizing a good teacher. you failed the class and like the guy right below me said a lot of people who fail their class take it out on their teacher. he's a good teacher, i would take him for every math class if i could he really does put forth effort beyond what he has to, to ensure that the students understand the material.

emmanuel is a great teacher.. the things that people are saying about him is just rude they are kids that got bad grades and are taking it out on the teacher. it's true he does give work back late sometimes, and he is late to class sometimes but he has a lot on his plate. he really wants to help his students learn the material and is one teacher that actually cares.

I won't bash on the guy for the simple reason that he is nice. Couple of things: 1.He doesn't teach too well; it's hard to understand him. 2. Returns things late. His tests are pretty easy but he stresses showing your work (won't give credit) Gives a decent amount of HW. 20 extra credit points for staying 20 hrs in math lab. Overall, he's average. Take him if you have already taken the course and would like a good grade.

I have taken emmanuel and he is definately one of the most genuine and nice people i have ever met. He is always there to help and his main purpose is to have you learn. He is a couple of flaws but who doesn't. He is a busy man and sometimes doesn't give you your homework back on time and might be a little bit late but the only reason people are saying such horrible things about him is because they over exagerate these little things. He will bend over backwards to help you with whatever you need and I received a D in his class so i'm not just saying these things because i got a good grade. I know him fairly well and honestly half of the things these people are saying are not true, it makes me mad that if i had read this before taking his class i dont think i would have just because there are such false accusations against him. He doesn't even give you a hard time on homework, as long as you are keeping up in the class he is great and if you aren't he's there to push you along and help.

I must refute the pervious reviewer's comment which states that Mr. Akanyirige is the head of the math department. The head of the math department is Mrs. Walters, and one can only guess why Mr. Akanyirige no longer has that position. In my experience, the class was a piece of cake, but the teacher was absolutely awful! He make the class easy to pass due to his lack of organization and follow through, which in the end benefits the student. However, I can honestly say that I learned very little, and dreaded coming to class every day. His argumentative nature was extremely unprofessional. He has double standards and a real narcissistic point of view. In my opinion, he should be monitored very closely by the administration!

don't take him for granted, he knows a lot and he loves teaching so take advantage of that. tutors are cool in the self-paced class-go to them for help too. just be organized and don't argue with him or the tutors, or else everyone gets mad at you and they make faces when you walk in when there are 20 minutes left of class
