I really enjoy taking Toni Mar's Core 1 class. Even though I took the course asynchronously I still get to challenge myself and do things at my own time. All of the instructions are clear and make a lot of sense when you connect them to physical workouts. While I was pretty much dying and getting sore after every workout in the beginning, after a few weeks I definitely feel stronger and don't get as sore after the workouts anymore. In general Professor Mar really knows how to challenge the people that take the class which further pushes yourself to get stronger not only physically but mentally too. On the asynchronous side, it makes it really easy to slack off and skip workouts, but I feel like staying committed and doing these workouts has helped me maintain a stronger mentality/motivation for working out more!

Toni Mar is the fitness queen! This class is a great way to stay active while virtual, and I will definitely be enrolling when we go back in person! She's kind and caring but definitely will push you to reach your fitness goals! Her classes are an amazing way to make sure you're working out and staying healthy!

I love her Core 1 class! It is a great way to force yourself to exercise! Every Berkeley student should be taking a PE class of some sort with Toni Mar! 10/10 recommend he class!

Being in quarantine has made my body lazy, inflexible and made it difficult to be motivated. Taking Toni's course this semester of Spring 2021 helped to change that greatly. Despite being 100% asynchronous compared to the rest of my peers, she continued to take the time to watch my recorded videos, give extensive feedback on what I'm doing right and how to improve! Her video recordings are clear and easy to understand, especially when replaying them and grasping the purpose of the exercise. Though I rated a 4/5 on easiness, it is my own inflexibility holding me back, but I see improvement each time I take her classes! I 100% recommend this course to those who are in the beginning stages of trying to understand their body and get back in shape!

Pretty sure the low “easiness” ratings are because Toni really knows how to give her students a challenge — but in the best way possible. As someone who literally never moved, period, other than walking to class and back home, taking General Conditioning with Toni Mar was a life changer. I never imagined I’d be able to see myself getting stronger and doing sit-ups with ease. The thing I most appreciate, though, is her teaching methodology. She makes sure to teach her students foundational knowledge that they can apply for the rest of their active lives, whatever the exercise, whatever the intensity. There is no real “homework”, but I feel so much more motivated now to live a more healthy lifestyle through the week, and I believe this speaks volumes about her effectiveness as a teacher.

Taking beginner yoga with Toni Mar online has been a surprisingly smooth experience. I feel challenged in her class, she gives clear advice when she spots something incorrect over video, and has a great attitude each day. She has been accommodating and understanding of people's needs to be asynchronous, as 2020 just keeps doing its thing.

Loved taking Toni's cross-training core and yoga class! She definitely pushes you for the core portion of the class, and it is so worth it. The workout is so rewarding. I feel so energized after and am amazed at how much strength I have gained. Toni provides great instruction, feedback, as well as healthy tips. Definitely recommend taking at least one class with Toni before graduation.

Toni's yoga classes are challenging, but you will learn a lot and get a great workout! She's great at providing instruction, tools, and makes you feel like you can do it. I saw improvement in my own body only after a few weeks. I have more energy during the day, hiking is easier, and I have less back pain.

Professor Mar is an exceptional teacher. Although classes are online, she is still able to provide us with insightful yoga lessons. Initially, I worried about not being able to get the poses down since she would primarily tell us how to do the poses rather than showing us directly, but she is really descriptive with each pose. Her ability to provide us with examples such as "imagine there is wall in back of you and you are attempting to align yourself with it" helps me immensely during each pose. She is a great professor and I would definitely take this class again!

The professor is really passionate and enthusiastic enabling me to push myself. She always provides feedback so that we can get the most out of our workout. I like how she always has a workout routine prepared for us to do and always explains the proper way we should perform it in order to avoid getting injured. The amount of effort you put into the class will impact the amount of satisfaction you feel after each workout.

Great class! Really helpful to perfecting your technique. Professor runs over on her classes so the class starts later than UC Berkeley time and goes over the allowed class time. Warm up before the class there is not a lot of "awakening" your body (or at least I felt really stiff and sore when I did not warm up before jumping into a flow). Would love to receive visual on the poses when being introduced to new poses. Not really clear on how we are doing other than general feedback in the class. However, this is a great way to start the day since the class really makes you create heat within. I feel more confident in the fundamentals now and how to bind poses. Toni is really nice and energetic.

Her drills are sometimes difficult to get through but you know that Toni will be there to motivate you through the tough times.

I am taking the beginning Vinyasa Yoga. And, while I enjoy the workout I get from the class, I would appreciate more visual instruction from the Toni. The course was moved online, but the instructor primarily gives verbal instruction with little to no visual demonstration which can be difficult to follow for a beginner.

Toni is a great instructor. This is my first semester with her (Vinyasa Yoga I), and it's been really helpful outside of class as well, as she teaches general meditation and life skills as well. The flows are also fairly challenging and I almost always work up a sweat! Recommend taking her class in the morning if you can, always leaves me refreshed for the day!
