How I Met Your Mother Finally Coming to an End

By Cayla Gorsh on September 4, 2013

It has finally come to an end. The last season of How I Met Your Mother. After eight years of the show running, finishing out at nine seasons, the show has decided to step off the air and say its goodbyes.

It is time for the final Slap, the final High Five, the final Bro Code, and last but not least, the highly anticipated reveal of who the mother actually is.

According to Entertainment Weekly, season nine “will feature some of the most non-linear episodes we’ve ever done”.

How I Met Your Mother began back in September of 2005 on CBS. The series follows a single man, Ted Mosby, and his group of  four friends, Marshall,Lily,Barney and Robin. Viewers watch their many adventures through Manhattan in hopes of finding out who mothered Ted’s son and daughter.

After one of Ted’s best friend’s from college, Marshall Eriksen, gets married, Ted’s quest was to find love, get married and have a family.  In the year 2030, Ted Mosby (voice narrated by Bob Saget) recounts to his son and daughter the events that led up to him meeting their mother. The series is narrated through flashbacks from the future.

Finally, after eight long seasons, the mother will be revealed in this final season. Supposedly the entire season will be based on one weekend where all the events will take place including the wedding of Barney and Robin.

According to Screenrant.com, series creator Carter Bays promises that this ninth and final season “will tell the epic story of the longest wedding weekend ever.”

So set your DVR’s and get ready to FINALLY find out who the mother is. Who is that mysterious woman hiding under the yellow umbrella outside in the pouring rain?

The final season premiere will air on Monday September 23, 2013 at 8/7C on CBS.
