My First Solo Trip to L.A.
Sure, I’ve been to Downtown L.A. before, but this time I was going alone, and let’s be honest here, I was nervous. My nerves continued as I was going for an internship interview as an Editorial Assistant. Getting to Union Station was the easy part, but after that, it was a mystery to me. After realizing I didn’t want to end up on the wrong subway accidentally, I opted to go up and ask the information booth attendant. “The purple line subway is your way to go” she said. Getting off at Wilshire, I was confused as the street view didn’t match the “online version” at all. Clearly stuck, I resorted to going into Verizon Wireless on the corner and asked for directions. The manager, who had a smug look on his face from me not being interested in a new Motorola, quickly pointed the correct way down the street.
Now it was time to find a bus (Yes, even a bus is entered into the equation) to take me to my internship interview; mind you- online, it was within walking distance. Guesstimating the correct bus, I was well on my way and my nerves for possibly the greatest internship opportunity towards my dream career as becoming an Editor someday started erupting.
My interviewer, Cara, was very polite and I expressed my enormous passion for writing combined with my obsession of Paris,France-which they also cover information about on their site, Gayot.com (Guy-oh).
All in all, with the combination of trains, subways, and buses it was certainly an adventure of a lifetime except thankfully unlike “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles” there were no cancelled flights, broken down trains, and exploding cars. Now I call that a successful trip.
