The Royal Baby Has Arrived
Unless you live under a rock, you have heard that the royal baby has arrived! Duchess Kate gave birth to her first son today, July 23rd. Congrats William and Kate! According to USA Today, the healthy little prince was born at 4:24 pm, weighing 8 pounds and 6 ounces. Prince William and Duchess Kate’s baby is now third in line for succession of the throne, following his father, Prince William, and his grandfather, Prince Charles. While the new parents have not decided on a name, the decision sure is stressful. Not only do the parents have to agree on the child’s name, but his great grandmother – Queen Elizabeth II – also has to approve of the name before it can be official. Now that is pressure!
Now that the royal baby has finally arrived, it is time for the festivities to begin. Blue will be plastered all over Buckingham Palace this week. USA Today states that in celebration of the little Prince’s birth, there will be a multi-gun salute held in his honor. As if a multi-gun salute wasn’t enough, the fountains also flow with blue water running through them, and blue lights will be placed on all of the iconic buildings. Fireworks and a huge celebration will be taking place. Britain sure knows how to throw a welcome party!
Although Duchess Kate is full of joy, this pregnancy has not been easy on her. Throughout her pregnancy, she was hospitalized multiple times for morning sickness. Since the little Prince was born past his due date, Duchess Kate might have had to opt for a different birthing style than she had originally planned. The details of the birth are not clear, except that both the Duchess and the royal baby are happy and healthy.
The proud parents, Prince William and Duchess Kate, are not the only ones excited about the birth of the royal baby. News stations, celebrities, fans, friends, and family are expressing their enthusiasm as well. The hash tag “royalbaby” is now trending!
