Go Find A Free Library!

Free books…Oh My!

For those of us who are deep-down nerds still know what a library is, and what it contains.  Thousands of books in reach to enrich us in different worlds and making dreams reality just by flipping pages and becoming obsessed in what happens next.

But the real treasure is finding one closer than you think.  This is called a “Free Library.”  They are little stands that people build around communities to encourage people to read and “take a book, and leave a book” as the sign portrays.  With everyone immersed in their tablets and I-phones, stumbling across this gem in Claremont Village was just the pick-me-up I needed that day.

I continued by doing some research on these free libraries and found that there are more and more being built around surrounding major cities such as L.A. and New York City.  The rewards are endless as when I saw this one, I instantly found a used copy of “One Hundred Years of Solitude” by Gabriel Garcia Marquez (a Nobel Prize winner).  This was extra special for me because I had just finished reading this for my World Literature class in college and now here it was for me to re-read and own forever.
