Comedians That Predicted The Future

By Artemis Freeman on June 8, 2013

Sometimes, you’ll stumble across a YouTube video of a random stand-up comic telling jokes at a dive bar in Kentucky. Sometimes they’re funny, sometimes you want to gauge your eyes and ears out after watching. Occasionally, you’ll hear of comedians that are so far beyond their time in comedic wisdom that you’ll accidentally spend five hours engrossed in watching HBO specials instead of doing homework.

Those comedians predicted the future.

Robin Williams. “You’ll find Sarah Palin’s book somewhere in the fantasy aisle.” (Live on Broadway, 2002)

George Carlin. “You know what I’m waiting for? Guns in church. It’ll happen. You watch. Some nut will go ape**** in church and they’ll refer to him as a disgruntled worshipper. (You Are All Diseased, 1999)

George Carlin. ““You know something? Wall Street will get it. They’ll get it all from you sooner or later because they own this f***ing place. Its a big club. And you and I ain’t in it. You and I are not in the big club. The table is tilted, folks. The game is rigged.” (Carlin speaks to ‘The American Dream’)

George Carlin. “I’d like to begin by saying F*** Lance Armstrong. F*** him and his balls and bicycles and his steroids and his yellow shirts and the dumb empty expression on his face. I’m tired of that a**hole. And while you’re at it, F*** Tiger Woods, too.” (Its Bad For Ya, 2008)

George Carlin. “Its been great to get to know you [Jon Stewart] a little, and you….you’re gonna show us a lot and I look forward to it.” (Comedy interview with Jon Stewart pre-Daily Show)

Robin Williams. “I wanna have a Latin American pope, man. Yeah, a Latin American pope would be cool!” (Live on Broadway, 2008)

Robin Williams and George Carlin: two of the great comedic minds of our time. Is it perfect evidence? No. Is it enough to make me to think that Robin Williams and George Carlin are the Comedy Gods Incarnate? Hell yes.
