Investing in Key Work Clothing Items - Internship Edition
If Banana Republic wasn’t already your go-to store to buy work clothes, it should be. Although the clothing falls on the more expensive side (especially for a college student’s budget), the quality is hard to beat. Think of it as a long-term investment– in the end, it will save you more money and you’ll look fabulous. Here are the two key articles of clothing to invest in for your summer internship:
Blazers:
A perfectly tailored blazer completely brings a look together. For the summer, look for linens. The material won’t weigh you down during the commute, but gives the look enough structure without looking sloppy. After you find that one navy perfect blazer, you’ll never need another one. Of course, color options are nice, but that blazer will become a staple in your wardrobe. Here are a few examples of Banana Republic blazers, ranging from $89 – $150, a small price to pay for perfection.

Pants:
I recently bought a pair of cream, wide-legged pants from Banana Republic, and it was love at first sight. They fit well, and come in petite, regular and tall sizes. Dressed up with these Enzo Angiolini pumps, the look is effortlessly chic. The typical price of a nice pair of dress pants fall under $100, plus Banana Republic gives out great discounts. It’s important to invest in a good pair of pants because they’ll last a long time. If you buy neutrals, it’s so easy to mix-and-match to perfection without breaking your budget.
Last but not least, invest in a good pair of pumps. No matter your job, you want to be comfortable (especially if you’re commuting for work). The key is low and comfortable. If you can’t manage either, wear comfy flats (think Toms) on your commute. You’ll thank me later.
