About the "Mohochop": A Satire

By Suleidys Tellez on May 20, 2013

At Mount Holyoke College there is a certain trend, in which women’s hair come to the same end. It’s length decreases somewhat nonstop. Yes… I’m now talking about the Mohochop. I’m trying to understand, and trying to make some sense, it might cause some debate, but I will now commence:

Some of students say they do it for the style, because “they want to change their pictures on their networking profiles”.Others want to experiment, and find something new. So what could be better than getting a new hairdo?

In an all women’s college it is easier to dare to experiment with the length of one’s hair. With men not around, girls experience a strange sense of despair, and it’s common to see a cute lesbian affair. But for some a new hair style helps them find themselves, pushing them out of their closets’ shelves.

But then again…others do it to fit in, since the line between loser and popular is very thin. All the cool kids do it and they must do it to. So,they grab their friend’s scissors and kiss their hair “adieu”. For others it’s all about losing or gaining power, because they are sick of men treating them like flowers. Thus, they chop their hair off and break gender roles because Moho women have feminist souls.

And then, some just want to look like dudes. They bind their chest and cut their hair off despite all of the prudes. Others even decide to go to surgeons ,and instead of daughters, they come back sons.

Surely, there is much more for me to add to this discussion  to explain Moho-women’s changes in hair style. My deepest apologies if you don’t fall into this trend. Please let me know if I can make amends. But for now my friends, the about-ness of this topic has come to an end. For I have other business that I must attend.
