The Big Event: Seriously Big, Seriously Free!
It was another ordinary afternoon. Facebook and homework were competing head-to-head for my attention, and on this particular day, Facebook was winning by a landslide. I happened to casually scroll down my events page, only to see a picture that caught my eye. Neon-colored with bold letters, it said only this: “The BIG Event: Seriously BIG! Seriously FREE!” I eagerly clicked on the event page, wondering what something this awesome-sounding could possibly consist of. From there, I quickly discovered what the Big Event is all about.
The Big Event takes place this coming Friday, April 26th. Hosted by 19 different student organizations and groups, it is so incredibly big that it takes place in multiple locations. These locations include Driscoll Green, Driscoll North, and Sturm Hall. This amazing event commences with a film at 7 PM in Davis Auditorium, hosted by DU Programming Board. It continues until 2 AM with a Casino Night, hosted by Alpha Kappa Psi. These are only two of the myriad of events that will be featured on this epic night, however. There will be laser tag on Driscoll Lawn throughout the duration of the event, in addition to a Wii gaming station, a caricature artist, and crafts. In between 9 PM and 2 AM there are also many other time slots with fun events, such as a chance to create your own canvas painting, sing karaoke, and see three comedians perform. And if you happen to get hungry during these activities, there will be food – free food, to be exact. From 9 PM to midnight, there will be food trucks near Driscoll Lawn. Complete a five-question survey and $5 to use at any of these trucks is yours! Jazzman’s also hosts a free snack bar starting at midnight.
The Facebook page for the Big Event calls it “the BIGGEST thing to come to DU….non-stop fun, activities, and performances for all students.” It also stresses that this event is completely free. So what are you waiting for? Get your friends together and be sure to stop by this phenomenal event this coming Friday!
