The Highlights of the 2013 Oscars
There’s nothing I love more than awards season, and unfortunately the Oscars marks the end of it. I can’t help but picture myself sitting in that audience watching the show literally right in front of my eyes. Although this dream is far from reality, I’m perfectly content watching it from the comfort of my own home while devouring a nice box of Samoas. And I wouldn’t be able to do that in my $10,000 Oscar de la Renta dress, right? Of course, there are always things that stand out in any awards show that I’ll remember even during next year’s shows. Here are just a few of the moments that made the 2013 Oscars yet another fantastic awards show:
Sock Puppet Rendition of Flight: I was actually dying of laughter when I saw this. Thank God I watched this movie literally three nights ago or else I wouldn’t have appreciated it as much as I did. Well done on that one, Seth McFarlane.
The fashion of Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman: I really didn’t think that filmmaker Mark Andrews and writer Brenda Chapman, winners of Best Animated Film for Brave, would take their nominations so seriously. If you are wearing a kilt to the Oscars, you should not be allowed on stage, let alone be let into the show.
9-year-old up for an Oscar: Quvenzhane Wallis is the youngest person ever to be nominated for an Oscar for her film Beasts of the Southern Wild. “Oh, so you’re nominated for an Oscar? Pshhh that’s so easy, a 9-year-old can do it.”
Halle Berry: I refuse to believe that she is 46 years old. Her Versace gown was absolutely breathtaking, and don’t get me started on her flawless makeup.
Jennifer Hudson and her Dreamgirls performance: I actually have no words to describe this…just wow.
Les Miserables performance: Unfortunately it didn’t win Best Picture, and I thought this performance proved otherwise. But Russell Crowe needs to go.
Adele won her first Oscar: …which she can now place right next to her nine Grammys.
Jennifer Lawrence tripping up the stage: She just won her first Oscar, and she almost didn’t make it up to the stage to accept it. But I gotta give the girl props for getting up like a champ and laughing it off. It’s ok Jennifer, I still love you and your Oscar was well-deserved. We can blame Dior for that little accident.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner: I’m making my own Oscar for ‘Best/Cutest Couple’ and they win hands down, no questions asked. It’ll look real nice next to that ‘Best Picture’ Oscar for Argo.
