Aggie Athletics: Told Ya So
We are just hast halfway through the basketball season for both the men and women and boy what a ride it has been.
The women started off with a poor record dropping three contests early on to top 10 opponents while the guys wrecked shop against anybody and everybody in their way…. too bad it was only against teams that no one has ever heard of (no offense to those schools).
I mentioned before that things would turn around before the year was out and I’m here to collect my due respect.
Almost anyone that pays any attention to college sports could have called that, but I don’t want to pass up an opportunity to increase my credibility with you guys!
With all that said, basketball hasn’t been the only sport going on. Texas A&M has established itself as a premier sports school (just forget about men’s basketball, we all know that’s not happening). From football to women’s basketball to track and field and numerous amounts of other sports. We find ourselves in the top 25 in almost every spring sport there is.
Lets just take a look at where we stand in spring sports right now:
#3 – men’s track and field
#6 – women’s track and field
#9 – women’s swimming and diving
#13 – women’s tennis
#14 – women’s basketball
#15 – men’s tennis
#17 – women’s golf
#18 – men’s swimming and diving
#26 – men’s golf
Yeah, I know it’s a lot of ranking and you’re like, ‘I don’t give a care’. But compared to other schools in Texas, dare I say, we’re by far the best.
I just want to give a great thanks and appreciation to two people. Although some may argue that he left on somewhat of a sour note, Bill Byrne turned this Aggie Athletic program around.
In a state where football is king, Byrne not only headed decisions to help the football team that have resulted in the current success, but to other sports as well. Would you rather say you have the best football program or the best athletic program?
Here at Texas A&M it’s good to know we have both!
