Looks Can Be Decieving - Aggie Basketball
All the Johnny Football talk has settled down…. well as much as possible and most of the college football talk has changed into talks about who’s the best on the blacktop. Aggies are getting into the spirit after last Saturday’s huge win over Kentucky and Elston Turner’s coming out party when talking about the national spotlight.
Basically, success and winning has become a part of who we are as Aggies after the greatest performance of fall sports since I’ve been alive.
Aggies: I’m just here to warn you don’t get your hopes too far up! We’ve just played a huge game against No. 10 ranked Florida. This has been the biggest test of our season and I just want to say we were put in our place. I must apologize for my remarks earlier this season when I described how Coach Kennedy had to prove his worth, and I’m still not completely bought in, but someone has to be the voice of reason when everyone in Aggieland is going off of pure adrenaline.
In the Big 12 we would be crushed in basketball, but we’re not in the Big 12. This season has been a success thus far and the Aggies are looking to make a run for the tournament which I have to admit I didn’t even imagine there would be a chance of at this time in the year. If we don’t make the NCAA tournament, this season has not been lost. Yes, we might still need a new head coach but I would say a top 4 finish in the SEC would be something to brag about.
On the women’s side it seems that we’re lacking and there’s no hope. We were supposed to come out on top of the SEC surprising teams like we did in soccer, volleyball, and football. Yet we started the season playing top 10 teams and have continued the hard play coming up short on occasion in hard fought games. Remember, Johnny Football didn’t beat Florida or LSU, but there’s hope for the women to still prove that they’re the best in the country because unlike football we have a tournament to decide who’s the best.
Keep your eye out for the women’s basketball team and your hopes up for the men. Looks can be decieveing but the tourney never lies.
God bless and Gig ‘em!
