25 Little Victories That Can Make Your Day
Some things can go a long way! Here are a few of them (or 25…):
1) Nailing a discussion question in class, or shooting out the correct answer to a difficult question in a big lecture hall
2) Your favorite sports team winning a game (when you’re a Cubs fan in baseball season, this one really makes your day)
3) The second you get out of class the sun comes out for the first time all day
4) Waking up with unread texts on your phone
5) Getting a mention or retweet on Twitter. Huge multiplier if it’s a favorite celebrity, but not one of those celebs that just retweets anyone!
6) The relief you feel after that moment when you panic and rummage through every pocket of your clothing thinking you lost your phone… and then you find it
7) When you drop your iPhone face down onto hard cement/tile and pick it up to find not one scratch on the screen
8) Walking into class and finding YOUR seat unoccupied
9) Telling a really witty joke and making someone laugh his ass off
10) Receiving an email saying that your class is cancelled
11) Running into a friend at the store and catching up (a real friend, not someone you see and think “Oh god, now I HAVE to talk to them…”)
12) Raging in the backseat of your friend’s car while he drives around swerving
13) Nailing a rap verse that you’ve been trying to memorize for a week
14) Discovering the news that your favorite band/artist has an upcoming concert nearby
15) Walking out of an advising appointment feeling like your advisor actually helped you, and that some progress toward your future life was actually made
16) Finishing your long paper with a terrific closing sentence
17) Getting the final Jeopardy! question correct when everyone on the show gets it wrong
18) When no one is in line when you stop for lunch after class
19) Finally saving enough money for that big purchase you have been planning on making for weeks
20) Winning a scratch-off lottery ticket
21) Discovering a new TV show to watch based on nothing but just flipping through channels
22) The second you leave the building of your last class on Friday (or Thursday, if you have Fridays off)
23) Knowing one of the facts that Sheldon mentions in the Big Bang Theory
24) Eating a frozen pizza
25) Checking your phone after you hear the text noise go off and its from the one person you wanted it to be from
Extra: If you are having a bad day, just remember that at least you aren’t Ronald Wayne, who sold his 10% stake in Apple for $23,000 in 1976. That 10% stake would be worth nearly $60 billion today. He still has a net worth of $300,000.
