3 Kardashian Inspired New Year’s Resolutions
Depending on whether or not the world actually ends on Dec. 21, the new year may or may not be here before you know it. Cue the New Year’s resolutions ranging from goals of implementing strict diets and exercises, to promises of up-keeping that Oprah inspired dream board.
A month later and one jelly doughnut too many, you’re left with failed attempts and a jelly stained t-shirt.
Sticking to New Year’s resolutions may be challenging as a college student but, it is possible. While the Kardashian bunch isn’t necessarily the role model family, I found lessons within their deeds that may inspire achievable resolutions for the new year.
1. Don’t be the “Digitized Kardashian.”
In the November interview with Ellen Degeneres, Khloe Kardashian discussed her family’s seasonal traditions. “Every Christmas, we’re always together,” she told Degeneres. However, she also spoke about the editing of family members into photos because of conflicting schedules.
So you’re president of that one club on campus, and now you’ve deemed yourself celebrity. Is it hard to pinpoint the last time you actually visited your family? Don’t be surprised when family photos are posted on Facebook and you’re the “digitized Kardashian.” Make goals of spending more time with your family, and not just during the holidays.
2. Be realistic when it comes to exercise.
Just because you signed up for a year-long gym membership doesn’t mean you’re actually going to use it. Just because you have free membership to the gym on campus doesn’t mean you’re going to use it either. Or maybe that’s just me.
Make an effort, without over committing. Take Kourtney Kardashian’s advice on this one, even if it means jogging around campus or doing crunches on your dorm room floor in your spare time.
“…So what if its 15 minutes?! Better than nothing, right?” Kourtney Kardashian said via Twitter.
3. Develop resilience in life.
Out of all of the Kardashian sisters, Kim has arguably the most infamous past. In the recent protest flare over her visit to Bahrain, everyone wasn’t exactly welcoming. A photo taken of a protester’s poster suggests that this could be one reason why. Yet, Kim continued to smile and enjoy her endeavors.
The college experience is filled with challenges and naysayers, although they may fail in comparison to those of Kim Kardashian. This is why it is important to grow as a resilient student and as an overall individual. Why not bring the new year in by working on your way of dealing with adversity?
