Hardwell: The Dutch DJ That Could
23-year-old Robbert van de Corput’s baby face looks and reserved manners would lead you to believe that he is a calm young adult that wouldn’t bother with attending an event like a festival rave. But to the electronic dance community, Robbert van de Corput is a legend, known as the epic DJ-producer Hardwell, who tours the world on a packed schedule bringing a massive, explosive party to life wherever he steps on stage. Headlining events like the notorious Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) in Las Vegas and the fairytale themed weekend festival known as Tommorowland in Belgium, the Dutch super-producer Hardwell has properly earned his rank as #6 on the DJ Mag top 100 DJs through his unique productions and ability to flawlessly entertain the crowd.

Although he is very young, Hardwell is no sudden success. Starting at the young age of only 13, van de Corput learned how to DJ with vinyls, mix tracks, and producing original songs. By age 14, he was signed to a Dutch record label and began playing at major clubs in the Netherlands. Committed to the house music genre, Hardwell continued to play clubs and produce mashups and mixes, eventually getting internationally recognized in 2009 for his bootleg of “Show Me Love Vs. Be” by Steve Angello and Laidback Luke and Robin S. (a bootleg is a mashup of different songs without permission from their original creators). Between 2009 and now, Hardwell has continued on a rise to the top of the Electronic Dance Music world through successful release after successful release. Besides DJing and producing, Hardwell operates his own record label, Revealed Recordings, and releases a weekly hour-long mix of the newest house tracks on his Youtube page. And at age 23, van de Corput shows no signs of stopping. On November 26th 2012, Hardwell released his latest song, “Apollo”, which has reached the number one spot on Beatport.com in only 4 days. One listen to this song and you will know that Hardwell means business. Discover for yourself why this young Dutch superstar should be bumping in your ipod and check out “Apollo” on Youtube.
