5 Beauty Products For When You Wake Up Late
As a college student, I find myself waking up later and later for my morning classes as the semester goes on. In September, I think, “Oh, my class is at 8:20. I need to get up at 7:02 to shower and dawdle,” and by November, I decide that 8:02 seems much better. Also as a college student, I usually wake up looking like a homeless troll who has been sleeping in wet garbage, so I am constantly looking forbeauty products that will help me make it to class looking acceptable. Here are a few that I love for fall/winter:
1. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain
This is basically lipstick and chapstick at the same time. The balm softens your dried-drool covered lips, and the color makes it look like you tried way harder than you did. If someone’s looking at your hot, red lips, they will be less likely to look at your dead, drooping sleep eyes. Also, the tube is pretty large, which makes it easier to find in a hurry!
2. Too Faced Brownie Eyebrow Pencil
Eyebrows are an often overlooked facial feature; you really never notice them unless they are grossly hideous. But, great eyebrows can change your whole face, and it’s super easy to fill in your “meh” pair. This pencil is awesome, because it’s soft, so you don’t get the awesome Sharpie effect, and it blends nicely with whatever your natural brow color is. If you don’t have time to do eye makeup, simply faking a strong eyebrow draws attention to your eyes and helps contour your face (both good things).
3. Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray
The most frustrating part about my morning troll appearance is definitely my hair. Even if it’s clean, it’s tangly or flat on one side or it looks like I started perming my hair and then passed out. Texturizing spray is helpful in all of these situations, because it aids in creating that oh-so-cool “messy” look. Just flip your hair over and spray it randomly and just fluff it around until it looks like you did it on purpose. I like this particular spray, because it’s inexpensive and smells good, but there’s one by Josie Maran that’s a bit nicer and smells awesome.
4. Mary-Lou Manizer by the Balm
Okay the name is stupid, I understand, but this luminizing powder is pretty great. Use it like any luminizer (cheekbones, under brows, down nose). It takes maybe fifteen seconds, and your skin will look glowy and bright while you’re sleeping in your East Asian Politics class.
I think this perfume is particularly good for the college student, because it’s floral, but not so that you smell like the Yankee Candle Store. It has a certain musk (although I hate that word, sorry) to it that makes it fit with your just-woke-up, may-or-may-not-have-showered nature instead of smelling like you’re trying really hard to cover your breakfast cigarette.
So, if you can’t trick yourself into waking up earlier, these products will at least trick others that you did.
