Final Exams
Was I the only one who needed that break? Thanksgiving break was great; it was fun, relaxing, and nice to sleep in your own bed. Now it’s time to look forward. And by forward I mean: it’s exam week. Yes I know, no one likes it, but everyone needs to stay focused on acing all their exams and excelling in their classes.
A very important thing to do is to start studying in advance. Do not wait till 2 or 3 days before your test to begin reviewing. Start now! Hopefully some of you started studying over break if you weren’t too full from all the turkey. It is much better to split up your studying in sections rather than engage in the classic college cram session. Make sure you stay on top of your school work and get out of Thanksgiving break mode and back into school mode, no matter how hard it is.
Another thing that is important is to make sure you’re eating right. Fruits and vegetables give you a lot of clean energy, so make sure you consume a decent amount of them daily. Of course, coffee is there for an extra boost of energy as well; just don’t become dependent on it and don’t drink too much in one day. A lot of saturated fats and trans fats are also bad. These fats tend to slow one down and make one feel more tired. Watch your diet throughout exam week and while you are getting prepared for it in order to maximize your efficiency.
Lastly and most importantly, do not take drugs that are not prescribed to you. Most colleges out there are going to be crawling with drugs like Adderall, Vyvanse and Ritalin. These types of drugs are highly addictive and can cause dependency or constant fatigue. We all have the potential to succeed on exams–some may do it the wrong way but hopefully most do it the right way: clean.
Be prepared to deal with a lot of stress in the upcoming weeks. Final exams are important, very important. As long as you stay focused and on task, you will succeed, no matter what anyone says. Good luck, and remember that you can do it.
