And It All Comes Down to This

By Lucy Infeld on November 19, 2012

For Ohio State students, faculty, fans, and football players, Saturday will be one of the biggest days of the year. It marks the Ohio State University vs. University of Michigan football game, one of the most intense and long-standing rivalries in college sports.

This year, sanctions from the NCAA prevent OSU from competing in any bowl games. This would have had little effect on the team last year, however, this year they have the best record in the Big Ten at 11-0 and have had one of the best seasons of any team in college football. With no promise of a bowl game, the Buckeye season comes down to the already exciting rivalry game to end the season.

After a loss to the team up North last season, Ohio State is looking for revenge and has the home field advantage for this game. With a 7-3 record going into the game on Saturday, Michigan should be an easy target for Urban Meyer and his Buckeyes, but after some recent struggles with defense, the game should be an exciting and close one.

For OSU fans, however, this game will (hopefully) be the perfect sweet ending to the Thanksgiving holiday, and everyone in Columbus will be more than excited to put on their scarlet and gray to cheer on the Bucks as they take on the Wolverines in the ‘Shoe.
