Four Rules I’ve Learned About College So Far
Week thirteen is upon us. Only a few more before this semester comes to a close. While for some of my fellow freshman the upcoming end of this semester is something to look forward to, for me, it is quite a different story.
I could not love the Ohio State University any more. I am so fortunate and blessed to be as happy as I am. These past few months have been incredible and it saddens me that this year is almost halfway over. If the rest of my freshman year is anything like these first few months have been, then I will be one of the luckiest freshman ever.
During these last thirteen awesome weeks, I have learned 4 major rules about college. Some are rather surprising and some are more obvious; nonetheless, they are all rules that I have come to know and abide by.
Rule #1: Caffeine = key to success
Managing to get an adequate amount of sleep in college is a true art in itself. College students are always on the go and always have a list of things to do. We constantly require energy. Caffeine is a quick and easy fix to our “no sleep but need to study” problem (especially since there is a coffee shop on almost every corner of campus).
Rule #2: Must break bad high school habits immediately
If you are feeling unprepared for a test, you cannot just skip school like you did in high school. Being a big procrastinator won’t fly any longer.
Rule #3: Nap time is the greatest time
Naps are a rare luxury and should be regarded as rewards.
Rule #4: Balancing social life and academic life is damn near impossible
If anyone out there has any good advice on how to balance these two parts of college PLEASE share with me, because I am constantly struggling with this one.
