Boy Meet's World Spin-Off Details

Every 90′s baby’s prayers might just be answered in February. That’s right- Disney is in the process of working out the final kinks in creating a Boy Meets World spin-off series entitled Girl Meets World. Although spin-offs do not have a very good history in Hollywood, fans are still excited to see what the show will bring to the table.

Boy Meets World was a sitcom that told the coming of age story about a boy name Cory Matthews being raised in Philadelphia  The show ran on the Disney channel for seven seasons (1993-2000) and was a monster hit; it still is to this day.

The overall plot of Girl Meets World is similar, if not identical to Boy Meets World. The main difference is obvious, we will be following around a young girl this time around. But, not just any girl. The show will revolve around Riley Matthews, daughter of Cory and Topanga Matthews.

And even better news, not only is Cory his daughter’s history teacher, but producers are trying to bring back the original actors Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel to play the roles of Cory and Topanga.

Riley Matthews is described on the cast sheet as, “13 years old, indelible personality, an adorable girl on the cusp of whatever comes next in life, and wanting to rush into it head first. She is fiercely loyal to her friends, and spends most of her time juggling the obstacles that life throws her way… there is no obstacle in this girl’s world that can dampen her bright spirit and eternal optimism.”

Sound familiar? Well it should, and if not then let’s see if this does. Riley’s best friend is Maya. Maya is not very optimistic and not as trusting as Riley. She never knew her father, and looks to her history teacher as a father figure. She struggles in school and  is known to have an ‘acerbic wit’.

Fans will also be pleased to know the pilot episode, which will be airing in February, is being written by the same executive producer of Boy Meets World.

One question however still lingers in the back of every Boy Meets World fan’s mind- What about Feeny?! Unfortunately there are no details yet as to whether or not William Daniels will come back to fulfill role of Mister Feeny, the witty and tough love giving teacher, principal, and mentor of Cory, and Topanga. But, whether there is a Feeny or no Feeny I’m sure Cory will be using the life lessons his former teacher taught him to teach his current class and his daughter.
