Extra! Extra! Read All About It! Obama Takes 2012 Presidential Election!

By Lauren McCane on November 7, 2012

It is finally over! All of the campaign ads will cease to exist and the non-stop visits to campus will end. But who is our winner? That’s right! Barack Obama has won a second term in the White House, much to Mitt Romney’s disappointment. However, I could not be happier with the decision this country has made to support our president. As a result, those of us getting financial aid for our college education will continue to get it. I don’t know about you, but my college education rides on the Pell Grant. President Obama doubled funding for the Pell Grant in his first term. In addition to that, with ObamaCare, I can stay on my mom’s health insurance plan until I am 26. That will be a huge financial burden that is off my shoulders for a while. I will have many expenses coming to me at that point in my life, and thanks to President Obama, health care will not be one of them. These and many other examples are reasons why I think President Obama deserves another term.

Barack Obama has done many great things for our country in the past, and he has many plans for the future that I believe in wholeheartedly and I support 100%. He is trying to get equal rights for the LGBTQ community and women. He is also aiming to make our economy as prosperous as it was before the recession.  As controversial as those topics may be, our president is willing to take them on with a ferocity and passion we have never seen before.

We are all living in a time of change. Whether or not you supported President Obama during this election, I hope you exercised your right to vote. I also hope that if you did not support him during his campaign, you will support Barack Obama during his next four years. Our country is in a critical state, and a divided country cannot stand. Whether you like him or not, Barack Obama is the leader of this country and he deserves our respect and loyalty. Please think about that if you are thinking about posting something hateful about him on Facebook or Twitter. Happy Election Night and Good Night!
