Knowing your Limits...
In college certain situations will present themselves to you, such as drinking. If this is your first time experimenting with alcohol, take it easy.
You will hear plenty of people around you talk about their limits. A phrase like; Oh, that’s all for me I’ve hit my limit, is a smart person way to drink. People that cannot remember how much they have had to drink are behaving dangerously. If you have never drank before, or had very little, you do not know your limit! That’s okay though because, one day you will learn. There is a good chance that one night you will go beyond your limit and learn (the hard way) from that experience. The problem comes when you repeat this over and over again, and do not learn from your mistake.
It is great to let go some times, but you do not want to be that person that is sitting in the bathroom feeling horrible the entire night and the next day. Ruining your friend’s evening because you thought you could handle it, can leave you with feelings of guilt- especially when they have to spend the night holding your hair, or making sure you do not get hurt. When someone older than you suggests something, like only having two drinks for the night, listen to them. They are only trying to help you. They are not babying you, and they just don’t want you to go through the same thing they did.
Have a good time on your weekends, by actually being able to remember them. Waking up the next morning can lead to regrets when you begin to hear stories of what happened last night. Drinking needs maturity and most of all responsibility. It is your turn to show that you can handle the alcohol, by keeping track of yourself. Do not try to keep up with your friends or the people around you. They know their limits!
It is not a mistake if you learn from it, stay safe!
Best of Luck
