Fall Concert Lineup
After a summer full of hot and heavy music festivals, artists have finalized their fall tour schedules at last. Here’s the best part: there are actually a fair amount of amazing shows that are just a few hours drive, and even one here in Tallahassee. Here’s a short list of some of my favorites:
Florence + The Machine: September 25th at the USF Sun Dome
After her successful Ceremonials tour, Flo has decided to grace the US once again with another string of performances. There’s no need for me to tell you how fantastic this show is going to be, you already know. I’ll be in the front row screaming every soulful lyric.
M83: September 27th @ the House of Blues Orlando
You’ve probably heard Midnight City in every hipster club ever, but this French electro-shoegaze pop group’s discography is one that every music enthusiast should know about. Their most recent album, Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, is sure to deliver an epic performance.
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros: September 30th at The Beacham
I first heard of these indie rockers after listening to this adorable father-daughter duo cover of “Home”, a folky tune from their self-titled 2009 album. The group continues to channel their Southern California-esque sound in their 2012 album Here.
Gotye: October 8th at the House of Blues Orlando
The Australian sensation that sparked millions of acapella YouTube covers embarked on his first North American tour this past August is making two stops in Florida this October. His haunting, sexualized “Somebody That I Used to Know” music video with Kimbra provides great expectations for his upcoming performances.
Ingrid Michaelson: October 15th at The Beacham; October 18th at SCA
The talented singer, songwriter, and musician set up another round of tours after the release of her fifth studio album, Human Again. Michaelson is known for performing unique acoustic covers of popular songs during her low-key, intimate shows.
Matt & Kim: October 16th at The Moon
In anticipation of their fourth album, Lightning, the duo has set off on a promotional tour that stops right here in Tallahassee. The best thing obviously being that concert is that it’s FREE for FSU students.
Passion Pit: October 24th at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center (UF)
It takes a lot for some of us to make the drive over to The Swamp, but when Passion Pit is involved, it’s completely worth it. Put aside your Gator hate for a night and dance/shout/clap/stomp to “Sleepyhead” with your fellow music lovers.
Regina Spektor: November 14th at the House of Blues Orlando; November 15th at Ruth Eckerd Hall Tampa
No one can go to a Regina Spektor show and remain indifferent to her tremendous talent and commanding stage presence. This British singer and songwriter’s piano—driven anthems will leave you speechless.
Other upcoming shows:
Bombay Bicycle Club: October 5th at The Social
The Temper Trap: October 20th at the House of Blues Orlando
The Who: November 3rd at the Amway Center Orlando
Fun., Of Monsters and Men, GROUPLOVE, Imagine Dragons, Anberlin, The Joy Formidable, Paper Tongues, 21 Pilots, Rise Against, Bush, Silversun Pickups (x102.9 – The Big Ticket): December 2nd at Jacksonville Metro Park
