Songs for the Fall Season
Now that school is in full swing for the fall semester all that is needed is the corresponding weather to accompany it. While laid back summer days are just a distant memory, the sweltering heat has yet to dissipate. This only adds to the anticipation of cooler weather, changing leaves, and all of the other festivities that come with the season. To welcome the arrival of a much needed cool-off, I have compiled a few songs that are perfect for fall.
Sweater Weather-The Neighbourhood
While it is still hard to fathom the thought of wearing sweaters in the heat and humidity that currently plagues Florida, this song makes you wish it was time to put away the tank tops and pull out those comfy sweaters from the name alone. There is no doubt that walking campus will become a more enjoyable endeavor when sweat no longer makes clothes stick to your body.
Opposite Day-Andrew Bird
This mellow tune is perfect for those lazy days when all you want to do is lay around and do nothing. Picture sipping on a warm Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks while you catch up on some reading or lounge around with friends. Time seems to slow down in the fall, and this song makes you want to just that. Slow down and enjoy it.
Cruisin’ FDR- Oberhofer
For those who drive to campus it is well known that the traffic can be quite horrendous. However, with this song the long stops at red lights and backed up traffic lanes become more tolerable when you have an upbeat, feel-good song to put on repeat.
Sun Hands- Local Natives
Let this be the new addition to your playlist for walking to class. This will boost your mood instantly, which is always a good thing when an hour long lecture is next on your agenda. You might even wish the walk was just a bit longer so you could listen multiple times.
Honey-Swim Deep
Now that there is hope of the temperature finally decreasing, instead of rushing to your next class or hanging out in the library to escape the heat, pull out your headphones, find the nearest bench, listen and do some people watching.
Hopefully, these songs capture the essence of fall for you like they do for me. So, grab your iPod and welcome the long awaited changing of the seasons.
