New Social Media App For Football Fans!
A new app, called Yellowflag, launched in the app store on August 30th.
This is how it works: you link your facebook to your Yellowflag profile and select your favorite teams. Next, you can add friends to your “huddle” and interact with them by shooting big group messages. Essentially, it’s a huge mass text/twitter feed-esque deal that allows you to talk about a game you are watching. I test ran the app during the South Carolina vs. Vanderbilt football game, and I LOVE it. The messages are sent instantly, and the lack of a delay made it seem like I was in a room full of people watching the game with them, despite sitting on my couch watching it miles away from anyone that I was talking to.
Yellowflag also provides live scoring announcements with a ticker of play-by-play updates. The feed really is real-time, as the Jets vs. Eagles preseason game was at the top of my screen during the conversation I talked about above. The interactive scoreboard shows the score, obviously, but it also shows what team has the ball and features live stat updates.
The app also is a big supporter of wounded troops as CEO Josh Peyton was wounded in action while serving our country. The name is a literal symbol of the support of these troops. Since 9/11/2001, over 34,000 US soldiers have been wounded in action. The app is actively looking to help hire and train veterans to provide them with an opportunity to work with the Yellowflag team.
Yellowflag’s online website also features a blog, in which bloggers make predictions and analyze games. Currently, the site features preseason conference outlooks, a top 25 breakdown, a Heisman watch and several opening game previews for various college football teams around the country. The blog is continually updated, and as the football season picks up it will be a great source for both news and reaction for football fans everywhere. Yellowflag is definitely worth a look for even the casual football fan!
