Stars of Hope Go from Ellijay to Minot!
Alongside the construction of Annie’s House the weekend of September 7-9, the East Coast Division of Stars of Hope headquartered at Build an Ark Animal Rescue will be taking 375 stars to schools in Minot, North Dakota.
After a devastating flood on June 24 when the Souris River overflowed and crested three feet above the highest record in history, almost 11,000 people were evacuated and 20% of Minot was destroyed with 4100 houses affected in some way by the flood waters.
To bring some faith, hope, and happiness back to the community, stars will be taken to Longfellow Elementary and Oak Park Thursday, September 6 through Saturday, September 8 for children to paint.
From there, the stars will be put up throughout Minot for residents of the community to see every time they head outside.
While Stars of Hope is a joint project with the New York Says Thank You Foundation and Groesbeck Rebuilds America, the stars of the East Coast Division are cut out, sanded and painted in Ellijay, GA.
To assist with Stars of Hope in Minot, seven volunteers from the Ellijay community will travel up to North Dakota and in addition to Stars of Hope, they will participate in the construction of Annie’s House in Bottineau, North Dakota.
Annie’s House will be the official 2012 project taken on by the New York Says Thank You Foundation.
In addition to the Stars of Hope Project and Annie’s House, the National 9-11 Flag will be taken to Minot State University in honor of Ann Nicole Nelson, the only North Dakota resident whose life was cut short in the 9-11 attacks.
