Life Lessons from "Snoop Lion"
If you look hard enough, you can find positivity in anything. With the Twitter hype over Snoop “D-O-double-Gizzle” deciding to change his name to “Snoop Lion”, I figured it would be the appropriate time to snoop (no pun intended) down his musical past and take a look at a few life lessons we can learn from Snoop Lion.
Keep your mind on your money and your money on your mind.
In Snoop’s classic rap, “Gin and Juice,” the phrase “…with my mind on my money and my money on my mind,” is repeated throughout the rap. Depending on your taste in music, this popular song was frequently blasting through many car speakers, but I digress.
What life lesson can we take from this? It’s important to stay focused on your college and career goals. By doing this, you are ensuring your financial future. Keeping your education on your mind ultimately means keeping your money on your mind as well.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
In Snoop’s “Gz and Hustlas” intro called “You Betta Ask Somebody,” a teacher figure begins to ask different students what they want to be when they grow up. One student says a doctor, and another student says that she wants to be a policeman.
Finally, Snoop is asked what he wants to be when he grows up. He insists that he wants to be a “hustla.”
What life lesson can we take from this? Chase your dreams and aspirations. Maybe your career choice is not something welcomed by others.
You should ask yourself what you want to do with your life and go for it. Set goals, make a plan, and put it into action.
While Mr. Snoop may not be the ideal role model, there is always a positive side. Hence, life lessons from Snoop Lion.
