Plenty of companies have made it their life’s mission to get you to be a regular snacker. Whether it be Snapple, Chex Mix, or Oreos – they want you to make their product a part of your daily routine. The problem is that many snack foods aren’t great for your health. That’s why you should always have your own go-to snack recipes that you can make in a flash! Below are 3 easy, healthy, and delicious snack recipes to get you started.
Sweet Potato Bites
- 3 sweet potatoes
- 2 Tablespoons of olive oil
- Your favorite seasonings! I chose salt, pepper, and cumin
- Optional: ketchup or ranch
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Dice up your sweet potatoes into small pieces.
- Add all your ingredients in a bowl and mix it together.
- Line a baking sheet with foil and toss your now seasoned sweet potatoes on the sheet.
- After forty minutes you can take them out of the oven and enjoy them with some ketchup or ranch!
Bruschetta
- 1/3 cup of olive oil
- 3 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar
- 2 tomatoes
- Fresh basil
- 3 cloves of garlic
- Baguette
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Dice the tomatoes, basil, and garlic.
- Put the tomatoes, basil, and garlic in a bowl with the balsamic vinegar and olive oil.
- Cut about ten pieces from the baguette.
- Placed the baguette pieces on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil.
- Grab a spoon and add a spoonful of the mix in the bowl to each of the baguette slices.
- Place the sheet in the oven for 5 minutes, then enjoy!
Banana Pancakes
- 2 eggs
- 4 bananas
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- Optional: fruit, sugar, agave or syrup as a topping.
- Add the bananas in a bowl and mash with a fork or masher.
- Then, mix the mashed bananas with the eggs, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.
- Heat a pan to medium heat and coat it with butter.
- Add 1/3 cup of pancake mix to the pan.
- Flip the pancake when the edges start to brown, so about every 2-3 minutes.
- Add your choice of toppings!
Treat Yourself Queso
For the days when easy and delicious trumps healthy…
- 1/2 a cup of butter
- 4 tablespoons of butter
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1/3 cup of regular milk, whether it be reduced or whole
- 2 cups of cheddar or Colby Jack cheese
- 4 cloves of garlic
- Your favorite seasonings! I chose salt, pepper, and chili powder
- Tortilla chips
- Optional: tomatoes, jalapeño, and onion to add flavor
- Let butter melt in the pan.
- Add garlic and any other veggies for flavor (optional).
- When the butter melts, add flour and stir until it becomes a paste.
- Add milk and heavy cream to the pan, then stir until the paste disappears into the liquid.
- Then, add your favorite seasonings and cheese.
- Let the cheese melt and whisk every once in a while.
- If the queso is too thick add regular milk, if it is too thin add more cheese or flour.
- Your queso is ready when the cheese has melted and it resembles a sauce. Dig in!
