Longer days, hotter temperatures, and better conditions to have a spectacular time in the sun! Summertime is always the perfect season to be out and about, soaking as much vitamin D as you can. Of course, you can go to the pool or beach to stay cooler, but there are many things you can do to get yourself into the summer spirit. Here’s a list of a few things to consider to help kick off summer this year.

Drive-ins (or home projector movies)

While drive-ins have become a lost classic, they exist and can be the best way to enjoy those summer blockbusters. Here’s a list of the 30 best drive-ins to make a trip out to see! If you’re not near any, you could also attempt to set up a projector movie by using the side of a house or project screen. From experience, you can rent a projector from your college.

Hiking

Winter and spring can sometimes be hit and miss for hiking, but you can always count a suitable to go out for a long hike. You don’t have to worry about it raining as much nor the sky getting too dark on the way back.

Biking

Sitting in a car for hours on end in the hot summer sun is both exhausting and tiresome. With biking, at least, you can feel the breeze as you pedal your town, around the park, or on back dirt roads. The temperatures may be hot, but it’s still an excellent time to break out the bike from storage.

Concerts

With all the festivals and markets open in the spring and summer time, you’re bound to go past a few musicians having a jam out in the sun. If not in your neighborhood, many of the bigger music festivals happen in the summer since schools are out and there are more people out on vacation. It’d be almost hard to miss a concert in the summer!

Farmers Markets

Local food, music, crafts, and shops. It’s the most fun you could have just outside your door. Each farmers market is unique to its town and you can always city-hop to the next over. They always happen in the morning, so you don’t have to worry about baking in the sun.

Zoos

If you haven’t already done so this year, summertime is the best time to visit the zoo, as you can call friends and family to go with and see all your city’s zoo has to offer. There’s never a dull moment while visiting the zoo, and you may even learn a thing or two despite being outside the classroom.

Airbnb Getaways

With all the free time you’ll have, you may need to escape and find a place to recharge and rejuvenate your spirits after a long school year. Gone are the years of inns and hotels, as you can plan a getaway for half the price and find some of the most relaxing and comforting Airbnbs available. From experience, I may never go back to staying at a hotel again.

And in between all this crazy adventure, totally stop by the pool to cool off, as you can’t miss or forget this summer classic.
