Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship Deadline Approaches

By Lorena Roberts on March 14, 2019

Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines, offers fellowships every year to students in various amounts. According to a recent press release, the deadline to apply for these fellowships is quickly approaching. The honor society awards two fellowships of $35,000 each, six fellowships for $20,000 each, and 50 fellowships of $8,500 each to students across the country. The deadline to apply for these fellowships is April 15th, 2019.

The Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship has become the Society’s signature award since its creation in the early 1930s. $615,000 is awarded every year to students in their first year of graduate or professional study. The competition is open to all active Phi Kappa Phi members who have applied to enroll as a full-time student in a post-baccalaureate program of study during the upcoming academic year.

“I am honored to have been selected as a recipient of the Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship,” said Phoebe Stark, recipient of a 2018 Fellowship. “The funding provided through the Fellowship program will contribute toward my education at the University of California School of Medicine and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Phi Kappa Phi has enriched my life, helped further my medical education, and allowed me to make an impact in the health of patients in my future career as a physician.”

To be selected for an award, several academic areas are evaluated: graduate potential, undergraduate academic achievement, service/leadership experience, letters of recommendation, personal statement, and acceptance at an approved graduate or professional program.

Nearly $1 million is awarded each year through Phi Kappa Phi to students and members who are truly outstanding. Study abroad grants, fellowships, and baccalaureate funding are just some of the ways Phi Kappa Phi uses its money.

Each active Phi Kappa Phi chapter may submit one candidate from among its local applicants to compete Society-wide for a fellowship. The national deadline for chapters to submit an applicant for the fellowship is April 15, 2019. Chapter deadlines vary. If you are interested in applying, visit Phi Kappa Phi’s chapter page to discover location-specific deadlines.
