The Spring Semester Isn't So Spring Yet On Campus
So the Spring semester on the UWG campus has officially started but has been so cold I am starting to think that we won’t get to witness spring this spring semester. I think that it is really interesting how our weather works sometimes but this “spring” weather is not headed down the right path from the looks of it. We are constantly checking our weather applications to see the status of our weather but will there ever be a moment where we don’t have to check our apps and social media every day for the weather? I hope as I navigate through this that we are able to figure an answer to this question and so much more.
Students are having to bundle up some days, and other days they don’t have to bundle up at all which is totally fine. Outfits are supposed to represent who we are and how we are feeling in the moment. Most of our fashion includes leggings/sweatpants and t-shirts as well as hoodies, but if we aren’t eventually given a true spring like we are supposed to, will we be able to transition out of this cold and frosty weather? That is the real question that I don’t think any of us have the answer to at the moment and that might be ok for the moment but not for forever.
Having to adjust to the weather means having to adjust your mood. Most students have trouble with this during the semester. I believe because if you aren’t feeling the weather, it is definitely not feeling you either (just saying). So with the weather being cold, it’s kind of hard to have a positive mood about leaving your apartment or dorm unlike you would if the weather was matched more to spring, along with the more stylish outfits that would match the better mood.
Overall, I think that it’s hard to predict what the weather is going to be like on college campuses, sometimes you just have to roll with what will happen even if it might mess with you a little. There may be times where you can predict what is going to happen and that is fantastic, but your mind may not be a weather mindreader for campus 24/7. In the meantime, it is totally okay for you to explore your options as a student with this unique weather. I would not encourage not leaving your apartment or dorm if it’s cold out, but if you have a class that gets canceled it might be cool to go to Starbucks or meet up with your friends just to get out of your bubble for a little. Maybe getting out of your bubble will help you transition into the next season of life.
