McDonald's Planning Huge Makeover of its Restaurants

By Andreas Fanos on August 21, 2018

College students are always looking for a bite to eat, especially with all the hard work and mental strength needed as the semester progresses. Stress can be a prime motive to eat more and to have some energy to do homework late at night. Although not being healthy, fast food can be some of the best from time to time to eat and a great meal to get away from college food on campus, which for some is not very good. The same food constantly can be tiring too after some time. One of the most popular fast food chains McDonald’s is planning on making huge makeovers and make a lot of improvements to their places.

The giant announced the news on Tuesday announcing a whopping $6 billion plan makeover to its 14,000 U.S. restaurant locations according to the article by CBS News. The money will be going towards new furniture and decor, including outside improvements to create allure. Modern technology will be used as well for convenience with kiosks, different methods of payment, and include drive-through digital menus.

McDonald’s did suffer some setbacks with its customer service and quality of food. People obviously know that eating fast food daily can have severe ramifications on the body such as obesity and in severe cases, lead to heart problems and more. Personally, I like McDonald’s a lot more than Burger King and other fast food chains. Wendys still stands as my number one with its dollar menu collection and chicken nuggets/fries. Although Wendy’s is my favorite fast food restaurant and for others, I still believe McDonald’s has the best burgers with sesame seed buns and pretty good fries and chicken sandwiches.

College students can enjoy the new decor when the changes are implemented in the future, which could take a number of years. After all, the new decor and convenient new technology to be added will certainly impress the young crowd.  It will certainly be a big business move for McDonald’s.

It is certainly an important announcement for one of the giants in the fast food industry as they plan to battle Wendy’s, Burger King, and other chains. McDonald’s will be paying a lot of money for the remodeling and technology for its restaurants. This is a remodeling that has been well due as they haven’t done in a renovation in years. The chain has been able to bounce back since installing all day breakfast back in 2015 the article notes and working to improve the quality of the food. The brand has also worked with Uber with its service called “McDelivery.”
