When you are young and on your own for the first time, life can be a little bit hectic. And when you add college, or work, or maybe even both, it can definitely be a little stressful. Most young adults on their own for the first time, whether in a dorm or an apartment, usually have a small place to live (who knew living space could be so expensive?!). And when your place is small, you can bet that the smallest room is going to be the bathroom.

Your bathroom should be a place to restore and refresh yourself, but it can be hard for it to feel like a relaxing spot when you are in such a cramped space. Sometimes though, you just need to treat yourself! And giving yourself spa treatment is a great way to de-stress. But how can you make the most of your small space? Read on to learn some tricks to transform your tiny bathroom into a spa!

Flameless Candles

This is a great trick, especially if you live in a dorm! As you know, campus dorms do not usually allow you to light candles (or anything else for that matter) while inside. For some people, this is a total bummer because candles are really their vibe. So flameless candles can be a really great alternative! They can provide the same vibe as real candles without any of the risks of an open flame. And if you are not convinced that a flameless candle will induce the same ambiance as real candles, do not fret! There are some incredibly realistic flameless candles available now that will have you relaxed in a hot second without any thoughts of the light not being real enough. Current technology has developed so that the simulated flame flickers and sways just like a real flame. As an added bonus, there is no smoke and no mess from dripping wax too, which can help take away from the headaches caused by mundane life!

Matching Bathroom Accessory Sets

A simple but classy touch you can use to make your bathroom feel like its own little spa is simply to invest in matching bathroom accessory sets! A lot of the time, we just get whatever we need for our apartment or dorm on the fly, but what is easy to grab, what is cheap, and even what is on sale. Who cares if the shower curtain matches the rug as long as everything works like it should? Why buy a soap dispenser when the soap you buy comes in its own plastic dispenser?

But letting your bathroom have a common color and pattern scheme, making the extra effort to have everything match, actually putting your toilet brush and soap into their own dispensers other than what they came in — they really do make all the difference. You can even take it a step further and by yourself some really nice towels that not only match the theme of your bathroom, but are made of a rich, luxurious material that will make you never want to take your towel off. Taking these steps will make your bathroom feel polished, put together, and more professional. You have the freedom to choose the pattern and colors you like best, so you can create the ambiance you want with these sets. Sometimes, just having nice things like that around you can help make you feel better and more relaxed.

Bath Bomb Collection

Bath bombs are definitely becoming very popular, and for good reason! Bath bomb company Lush produced 14 million bath bombs in 2016 and produced a projected 20 million bath bombs in 2017, and the numbers are only growing.

Bombdiggity, another leading bath bomb company, described why bath bombs are so awesome: “Bath bombs are designed to take relaxing bath time to a completely new level. A bath bomb is best described as fireworks for your bath. You drop the bomb in your warm bath and it will begin to fizz, and bubble with colors and scents of nature. Some have a little sparkle, some flower petals, and some just plain make you feel and smell good.”

Many spas have begun incorporating bath bombs into their treatments, so you can give yourself your own spa treatment at home when you take a bath bomb in with you. And if your dorm or apartment does not have a tub, or you simply prefer to shower instead, try a shower steamer bomb! The hot water coming down out of the shower head releases essential oils you can take in through breathing instead as a form of aromatherapy. Many spas have essential oil steam therapies so again, you are just bringing the spa into your own tiny bathroom without spending the big bucks or being restricted by the cramped space.
