3 Relaxation Apps for Exams

By Debora Aberastury on June 7, 2018

Stress can get a hold of the best of us, especially during exams. There are a million and one ways to control stress, whether it be going on a walk or studying in intervals.

Here are some apps to help you relax during crunch time either in the middle of the semester or at the end:

Simple Habit (https://www.simplehabit.com/)

Meditation has plenty of advantages: improving focus, relaxing quicker, breathing easier, and best of all it reduces stress. Simple Habit lets you meditate every day for five minutes. It guides through specific symptoms as well as specific life situations (wake-up, commute, etc.)

The first time that I used it, the five minutes felt like a minute and I was instantly relaxed despite being in the middle of finals week. There are parts of the app that do cost money, mostly because they have teachers that create new content just for the app, but downloading it just for the free content is worth it.

Rain Rain (https://www.rainrainapp.com/)

This one is my personal favorite. They have 25 totally free sounds that help you relax, or what normally happens to me allows me to go to sleep within minutes. They have a variety of sounds from rain, thunderstorm, crackling fire, etc., and it allows you to mix the sounds to create a sound that will relax you (or lull you to sleep). Pro tip here – make sure if you can to use an old phone if you are going to use Rain Rain to go to sleep. I have often found my phone on the floor or tangled in my sheets when I wake up in the morning, along with the headphones.

Simply Noise  https://simplynoise.com/appstore/index.html)

An oldie but a goodie. White Noise is a color noise generator, where you can choose between white, brown and pink noise. It helps block distractions, it can mask tinnitus, soothe migraines and increase focus. I have often used this one during my college days while studying in the library or in a study room. It masked all of the sounds around me so I had only the books in front of me to focus on. I was able to get a lot done in little time with white noise. It is both available online so you can have a tab open in your browser with it, or in the Google Play Store or App Store.
