Art is Life: 5 Incredible Artists to Follow on Instagram

By Kennisha Crawford on February 12, 2018

Art is indeed life, or at least I believe so. I love scrolling through Instagram and discovering the most incredible artists who paint the most amazing pieces. When you think about, Instagram is an “art museum” in a way with how various different artists can post their work and get love and feedback on it.

While being an avid Instagram user, I have come to find some of the most amazing artists that I feel are pretty spectacular. Each of these artists’ works, “speaks” to me in the sense that I feel so connected to them and fall in love with them. If I had the talent, I would for sure be an artist and paint pictures that people can “see” themselves in.

Though Instagram is flooded with a plethora of different artists, there are 5 that I feel you should know and follow (if you don’t already). These artists each have a big following and if you see their work, you will instantly understand why.

1. FiyaBomb: Olivia Be’ Nguyen aka “Fiyabomb”, work is always fresh and engaging. FiyaBomb’s pieces show the different pains we women go through as well as how we try to be “strong” by holding in our emotions. Her works always receive great praise for being so real and raw. What I also love about FiyaBomb is how she is insanely positive and is always inspiring her followers to believe in God, themselves and to never give up on their dreams.

2. Artist Sheena: Sheena Robinson’s work is astounding because it shows women of color in such vividly beautiful ways. Sheena’s paintings of women of color show our strengths, fearlessness, fierceness and beauty. Her paintings show how beautiful we are whether are hair is in a fro, braids or braids. Another great thing about her paintings is that they display “real women’s bodies” with all the curves and thickness that we women may possess.

3. Sue Tsai: Sue Tsai is incredible in how she uses bold and bright colors that give such “life” to her pieces. Sue is known for painting pieces with a “cartoon” vibe. She designed the cover art for rapper Wale’s “Bad” remix that came out in 2013 and last year she designed some apparel for SIX:02. Sue’s works also have messages in them that uplift and empower women and as well as men.

4. Penciled Celebrities: Ray Styles, known as “Penciled Celebrities” on Instagram, is an artist who paints extremely raw and honest pieces that depict societal injustices of people of color, abuse and more. Though his username has the word “celebrities” in it, Ray paints images of everyday people in real life situations and pain. Ray’s pieces tell incredible stories and will make you feel a plethora of emotions.

5.) Hayden Williams: Hayden Williams is an illustrator and designer. Hayden’s works are just beautiful to look at with how he draws people with such profound detail and exquisiteness. Hayden draws a lot of celebrities as well in some of their best looks. His Beyonce and Rihanna drawings, in particular, show each of their amazing styles in a fun and unique way.
