An Open Letter to New Year 2018

Dear 2018,

Happy New Year! I am completely ecstatic and hyped to see what you have in store for me. I know I never make New Year’s resolutions anymore because in the past, I rarely stuck to them. However, I still have many prayers, hopes and goals for how LIT I want this year to be.

I know it is very cliché to say that “this year will be my year” but I honestly feel that it will be. 2017 was a year of loss and gain for me that after some self-reflection, made me realize was necessary for my continuous growth and evolution to becoming the woman I aspire to become. I am whole-heartedly filled with such enormous anticipation for what is to come in this New Year.

One of my prayers for this New Year is that I first and foremost continue to build and make my relationship with God stronger and put him first in any and everything that I do. I am a firm believer that with him, the word “impossible” doesn’t exist and that he will open great doors for me that will lead to me fulfilling my destiny. I also pray that my family and friends have a healthy, happy and prosperous year.

One of my hopes for this New Year is that our society truly starts working towards changing for the better. We currently have an extreme narcissist and bigot as the “leader of the free world.” We are living in the most insane and scary times where things like unity and peace are becoming extinct and hatred and violence are on a continuous rise. Despite all that occurs though, I still have faith that things will indeed change for the betterment of humanity.

Finally, one of my goals for this New Year is to live my absolute best life. I have had my share of ups and downs and I have had my years where I was living a mediocre life. As I grow older though, I realize life is never going to be “perfect” and whatever “perfect moments” I am waiting to happen, aren’t going to happen unless I put a plan in motion. I am 100% ready to live and I mean truly live. This life is simply way too short to just “exist.”

So, I decree and declare that you, 2018, are going to be without a doubt an amazing breakthrough year filled with great and wondrous changes for myself as well as the world, new exciting opportunities and a plethora of adventures.
