Top 10 Must-See TV Shows and Movies of 2018

2017 was a big year for Hollywood blockbusters but 2018 will even be greater, with a handful of new television shows airing and some massive blockbuster films hitting the big screen. Here’s a roundup of the top 10 must-see TV shows and movies of 2018.

10. “Deadpool 2″

The foul-mouthed superhero is back from round 2 of his rated-R “love story” movie. The sequel will full of crazy antics and smart-mouth comments. It has been two years since “Deadpool” left his mark as Marvel’s latest superhero. The sequel features several new characters including Cable and Domino, which we don’t know much about yet.

9. “Big Brother: Celebrity Edition”

For those who watch reality television, “Big Brother” has become a beloved show among many. This season brings a house full of celebrities. Currently the network is remaining tight-lipped on who will be the house guests.  It’s been rumored to be an all-female house, but male housemates would be gradually introduced throughout the season. One could only imagine the celebrities they could bring in. Perhaps it’s time to bring the most controversial reality TV star turned Trump advisor Omarosa to the Big Brother House. The season premiere will be February 7, meaning it will go head to head against NBC’s Winter Olympic Games coverage.

8. “The Americans”

The popular FX show “The Americans” is finally coming to a close and there’s no telling what the future holds. The cast and crew have remained silent on what will happen with the characters. The show’s creator Joe Weisberg did announce that all the questions viewers have, will be answered by the series finale. The show does not have a set premiere date, but will be airing sometime in March.

7. “American Idol”

The singing contest is back, but this time airing on ABC. It will also feature three new judges, which include: Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and Katy Perry. Ryan Seacrest is returning as show host. “American Idol” has revolutionized television, becoming the highest-rated series in a decade. The show’s format has been formatted for versions in 55 countries around the world. The premiere date is March 11.

6. “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story”

The folks at FX introduce their second installment of the popular “American Crime Story” series. This year will focus on the murder of famed fashion designer Gianni Versace. The season explores different angles that created a perfect storm.

5. “Black Panther”

Marvel is finally releasing their much anticipated solo movie “Black Panther.” The film follows T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) as he embarks on a journey to take his place as king of Wakanda. It is destined to be ruler of the box office. The release date is February 16.

4. “Grey’s Anatomy” Firefighter Spin-off

ABC is launching their second spin-off from their popular medical drama ‘Grey’s Anatomy.” Currently the spin-off does not have a title, but is set chronicle the life and happenings at a firehouse in Seattle. There will definitely be romance, high drama and close calls. There is no set premiere date but it’s scheduled to premiere midseason on ABC.

3. 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics

Athletes from all over the world are ready to compete for the gold at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea. Just months before the official start, Olympic officials announced that Russia as a country was banned from competing, over alleged steroid use in the Sochi Olympic games. South Korea is ready to welcome all the nations.  The opening ceremony will begin Feb. 7. on NBC.

2. “Avengers: Infinity War”

This is probably one of the most anticipated films of 2018. After 10 years of Marvel films, fans will witness a massive battle between all their beloved superheroes against their sworn enemy Thanos. The film includes all the Avengers plus countless other characters. Release date is set for May 4. It will definitely be one of the summer’s biggest hits in 2018.

1. “Ready Player One”

Steven Spielberg is back and this time it’s big. He goes all in on a new science fiction action adventure about a high-stakes virtual reality-based contest in a universe filled with mystery and danger. The film is an adaptation of the popular novel “Ready Player One” by Ernest Cline. Spielberg told ScreenRant that the movie is “a cautionary tale but also an exhilarating adventure.” He goes on to say the ’80s “had a refreshing lack of cynicism, and in our story, that’s what people are trying to return to. In their real lives, they’re living in a debris field of the first half of the 21st century.”
