3 Items To Put On Your Holiday Wish List

By Danielle Wirsansky on December 17, 2017

With the holidays approaching, it is time to update your Holiday Wish List! There are many things a struggling college student might enjoy: food more substantial than ramen, a payment made on their student loans, the sweet, sweet release of death. But rather than wish for things we can’t have, there are some things that every college student can ask for that will make their lives a little bit easier and more convenient. Not sure what to ask for yourself? Read on to learn about three items you should put on your holiday wish list!

We have all heard the trope. You got socks as gifts as a kid and were so disappointed. But now as an adult (or nearly an adult, anyways), socks seem like the best gift ever. Well, it’s a millennial trope for a reason. Socks may have been boring and unexciting gifts when you were a kid, but socks as a gift today are heaven-sent. It is an incredible transformation to undergo, but one almost all college students experience. Sure, wanting socks as a gift might mean you are growing up and getting a little bit more mature, but that does not have to be a bad thing. After all, socks can do so much good!

You probably wear socks quite often—it is something you will use and need. The more socks you have, the less often you have to do laundry. Your socks absorb sweat and help you to avoid blister formations on your feet.

More than that, there are so many options for socks available nowadays that you can get exactly the kind of sock that fits your wants or lifestyle. Have perpetually cold feet? Get soft fleece socks with snowflakes on them. Prefer socks that do not show? Get little bitty low-cut socks that will never reveal their presence or offend your fashion taste. Like to be silly? Get socks with mustaches embroidered on them so that you can take your whimsicality with you wherever you go.

Amazon Gift Cards

A lot of people do not like to ask for gift cards because they feel like it makes them appear greedy or selfish—they might appear as though they only want money. And many people are reluctant to give gift cards because it could come across as though they do not know the person they are giving the card to well enough to think of a more specific gift, or that they have not put time and energy into choosing a gift for the person.

Disregard this completely! As a student, money is usually pretty tight. Gift cards can help you stretch your budget and help you to purchase things you really need or want and could not get otherwise. Gift cards can be great gifts, but Amazon gift cards can be the best kind of gift cards simply because of their flexibility and versatility.

They can be for practical purposes. Scrounging for the money to purchase your books for Spring semester? Not a problem now. Your school books are again in your reach. They can also allow the harried and stressed college student the opportunity to afford something that they simply will enjoy, that they might not have been able to spring for. Need a new tea cozy? Want a pair of shoes? Been searching for that perfect pair of earrings? Amazon is a great choice for gift cards simply because you can order just about anything off of it. From handmade crafts to apparel to books to furniture, you name it, they have probably got it.

Why wouldn’t you want an Amazon gift card?

Subscription Boxes

You may be asking yourself, what is a subscription box and why would I want one? Well, according to CrateJoy, the self-purported expert of all things subscription box related, describes them as such: “A subscription box is a niche-based package of related products that is billed and delivered on a recurring basis. Subscription boxes exist for almost all interests, from socks, pet supplies, make up and just about anything else you can think of…. There are endless options when shopping for a subscription box…. that is best for your interests, budget and schedule!”

There seriously exists a box for every kind of interest, so no matter what you are interested in, you can request a box that will truly make your happy! Fascinated by the Myers-Briggs Personality Type Test? There is a box that caters to that interest (and to your personality type). Love to knit? Get a box that gives you the opportunity to try out new patterns, new stitches, or even new yarn. Into aromatherapy? Try out a box that will let you sample a new scent each month. Explore the world of options within your interests with a new box of surprises each month.
