A Review of Ted: Warm and Fuzzy Thoughts
Seth MacFarlane is quickly becoming one of the most recognizable comic geniuses of our time. The actor, writer and director is most well known for being the creator of hit TV shows like Family Guy, The Cleveland Show, and American Dad! On June 29th, MacFarlane released his newest creation into the world: the R-rated film, Ted.
Ted tells the story of boy who makes a wish when he is 8 years old that his teddy bear would come alive. As every good Christmas wish does, the wish comes true; the bear, voiced by MacFarlane, and the boy make an oath of life long friendship. The plot of the story then jumps 27 years and John, played by Mark Walberg, is now 35 and still best friends with Ted, his teddy bear who has become just as adult as John is. John has a steady girlfriend of 4 years, played by the beautiful Mila Kunis and the plot unfolds as John begins to face the reality that he may not be able to take the next step in his relationship as long as Ted is around. With a running time of an hour and 46 minutes, the movie gains its R-rating for pervasive language, crude and sexual humor, and some drug use.
When announced, this movie was immediately supported by fans of Family Guy and MacFarlane’s various other works. Its superstar cast also gained it tons of support, as well as its announced guest appearances that included Joel McHale of Community, Jessica Stroup of 90210, Ryan Reynolds and many others. This support still has the movie going strong, evidenced by the fact that it’s been running for almost 3 weeks now and the movie showing I went to last night, on July 13th, was completely sold out.
In the following video, I tell you my warm and fuzzy thoughts about Ted. You can watch it here!
