Social Support Forum ePEERS Launches for College Students

By Danni White on December 1, 2017

Have you ever felt like you needed some advice in a specific area but didn’t know who to ask? Are you new to college in general or to your college campus but aren’t just yet a social butterfly? Do you look for ways in which you can be connected to people your own age who are going through some of the same experiences that you are going through? Well, you don’t have to look very far.

ePEERS, a new social platform exclusively for college students, aims to empower students to ask for the advice they need, offer friendship, and share support with their peers, according to a recent press release.

The goal of the website and app is to foster meaningful connections between students. Much like Facebook brings people together among common interest such as friend or family ties or location, ePEERS allows students to share their interests as well as their academic and career goals, and personal advice on any issue that a college student might have. Students can connect with other students within their university or with college students at other universities and colleges across the nation.

ePEERS offers three primary benefits to college students:

1. Ask advice on personal, academic or professional topics.
2. Offer friendship through community connections such as friend groups, topic groups, school groups or affinity groups.
3. Share support by posting comments, providing helpful tips and giving emotional encouragement.

While in some ways it is similar to other social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, it offers a number of excellent features that these social media sites struggle to offer. These include optional anonymity and exclusivity. Students can feel free to discuss their worries, concerns, or seek and give advice without fearing being exposed to their parents or professors. Students can feel safe as they are allowed and encouraged to reports offensive content anonymously.

Joe Purisky, President of ePEERS, said, “ePEERS is an uplifting social platform that inspires student success throughout their college careers with helpful tips, emotional support and encouragement about college life. I truly believe ePEERS will improve the mental well-being of students across the country and provide friendship and support in ways that have never been done before.”
