8 Ways You Can Create a Space for Guests in Your Apartment
Whenever we have guests over, we want to give them the red carpet treatment, but on a tight budget and limited room space, it can be hard to pull off.
The key is to make the best of the finite space you do have and plan ahead how you can make the most of it. Having guests over does not have to be stressful or overwhelming when you use these tips that can transform your small space into the optimal space for your guests.
1. Provide a sleeping area
The most important part of making a space for your guests is providing them with a bed. You want to ensure your guest has a comfortable place to lounge when it is time to go to sleep. This area can be an unoccupied sofa if you have that to spare or personally I have an air mattress that I inflate for my guests. By providing them with some pillows and sheets they will be guaranteed maximum comfort during their stay.
2. Supply an area for belongings
It is important to remember your guests will be bringing stuff, so you want to give them space for their luggage. whether this means emptying out a corner in your room or giving them a drawer or space in your closet to put their things. I am sure your guests will appreciate this kind gesture and most importantly it will make them feel all the more welcome.
3. Give privacy
If your guest is going to be sleeping in a common area in the apartment, it is important to be aware of that in terms of privacy. Although you may be hanging out in the common area, your guests may feel tired and ready for bed. When this time comes you want to be respectful of that because although it is the common area, it is also their bedroom for the night. Above all, you want to ensure your guest is as comfortable as possible.
4. Provide access to outlets
There are a lot of little things you can do to make your apartment space more convenient for your guests. Odds are your guests will have technological devices that need charging such as phones and tablets, so you want to be sure their space has outlets located nearby. Even getting a power strip just so your guest can plug their phone in nearby would be very much appreciated by your guests for sure.
5. Give toiletries
Make sure you have extra toiletries for your guests if need be. You want to keep things like fresh towels, soaps, and hand towels ready for your guests. Your guests will not only appreciate your hospitality but will feel right at home as well. Comfort is a top priority and having toiletries ready to go guarantees this comfort.
6. Put away some unessential stuff
When we have our own space we tend to spread our things around freely, sometimes without any organization. If you are having guests over you want to put away unnecessary items because the more space, the better. If you could put some things in a bin and put them away for a bit, that will give your guests all the more space to utilize.
7. Tidy the place up
You want the space you do make for guests to be a tidy one, so be sure to clean around before your guest arrives. Sweeping up the floors, mopping, and vacuuming are just some of the chores you want to be sure to do. You also want to invest in air fresheners to ensure your apartment will be smelling clean when your guest comes. A clean environment makes everyone feel all the more comfortable and welcome.
8. Be a good host
You can make any small space a comfy one for your guest just by being a great host. Make sure your guest is comfortable and be sure to offer them snacks and drinks as well. By being attentive and aware of your guests’ needs you can make their stay all the more perfect. Having guests over can be tricky, especially when your space is small, but with the right preparation, you can make any space a great one for your guests.
