2017 MTV Movie & TV Award Show Fashion
Over the years, celebrities have turned out some of the most iconic looks of all time on the red carpet of the MTV Movie & TV Awards. With categories like “Best Kiss” and “Best Fight Against the System,” this award show has become a place for shocking choices — both onstage and on the red carpet.
At this point, there seems to be an unspoken ‘anything goes’ mantra in terms of dress code. This year was no different. Here is a list of stars who went there.
The Black-ish actress took full advantage of her first MTV Movie & TV Awards red carpet. In this head-to-toe Gucci number, Shahidi showed off her styling expertise (as we all know pulling off a mix of prints and colors is no easy feat). She beautifully balanced out the look with sleek Formation-inspired braids and a simple winged liner. Shahidi is on a fast track to joining the next generation of style icons. Watch out, Zendaya!
Without a doubt, the Pretty Little Liars star wore the most eye-catching dress on the red carpet tonight. Her Roberto Cavalli was complete with tiger stripes and huge cutouts. Mitchell was bronzed to perfection and completed the statement dress with slicked-back hair and gold hoops.
Fresh off her bald-headed debut at the Met Gala, Delevingne rocked a strong brown lip and black, Saint Laurent thigh-highs. This look is actually fairly simple in comparison to some others we’ve seen from her. But as a fashion girl, Delevingne knew to let her hair (or rather, lack-there-of) do the talking.
Hollywood’s edgiest ‘It Girl’ was definitely on brand tonight. She chose a structured Fendi dress, red mules, and a blue pop of color on the lips. She paired all three together seamlessly, none of which overshadowed the others.
Henson gave paparazzi a peek of her slim figure in this long-sleeve, turtle-neck gown. The side cutout and metallic rose gold reflective material were on-trend and sexy. Henson finished off the look with a blunt, blonde bob.
Cyrus channeled her famous older sister (circa 2015) in a black, pajama-inspired look. She looked comfy and classy in head-to-toe black. A simple silver body chain was a successful accent that created cohesion between the bralette and high-waisted trousers.
While this look may not have been the most successful, especially in comparison to her Comme des Garcon Met Gala dress, Ellis Ross definitely took a risk tonight. The Black-ish star probably took color blocking a little too far by combining almost every primary and secondary color together into a single dress. But regardless, she took a big fashion risk at an event that calls for one.
