End of Semester Stress
It’s that time of year again. The part of the year college students dread as each day hurries by meaning one more day closer to final exams. Besides exams students have more than enough on their plate to add to the stress.
Whether it’s family, relationships, work, or extracurricular activities, there’s a way to de-stress while still staying proactive and accomplished.
STEP AWAY
If the workload from classes, exams, studying and essays has taken over, stepping away from all the madness may help. Stepping away could be anything from taking a 15-20 minute study break to go for a walk, watching a funny video, scrolling through cute pictures of puppies, or throwing your own single dance party. Anything you can think of that will get your mind off of things for a short while and let you release some built-up stress will work.
BREATHE
Chances are you are doing this already, hopefully. In all seriousness, really breathe and relax by taking in slow breaths, closing your eyes for a second, and clearing your thoughts. Of course, we can’t breathe our problems away but having a clear head to get through them isn’t a bad idea.
TAKE ONE STEP AT A TIME
The end to all things causing stress may seem far in the distance but taking things one step at a time will help. Rather than looking at everything as one giant to-do list, take small steps towards accomplishing each goal or task. The most important thing is to know that in the end, everything will be okay.
There’s no magic pill to make stressful problems go away but even just following through one of the items on this list will help relieve stress. Of course, there are many other ways, but this is my personal de-stressing formula.
