A Review of Magic Mike
One of the most highly anticipated movies of the summer has been Magic Mike, the movie about male strippers. The film revolves around the character Mike, played by the beautiful Channing Tatum: entrepreneur by day, stripper by night. As he meets and decides to help a 19 year old boy, played by Alex Pettyfer, by putting him in the spotlight at the strip club, we see what the world of a stripper is really like, both on stage and off. Some of the other co-stars of this film include Matthew Mcconaughey, Matt Bomer, and Joe Manganiello, all making up an undeniably attractive cast. The movie has an R-rating for nudity, language, sexual content and some drug use and runs for 1 hour and 50 minutes. This is definitely not a movie to bring young siblings or children to.
While this movie’s central topic is indeed exotic dancing, it should be noted for the men possibly considering seeing this film that there were plenty of beautiful women in this movie as well. Some of the women cast members included Cody Horn, Camryn Grimes, and the gorgeous Olivia Munn. After all, what would be the point of making a movie about male strippers if they didn’t have plenty of beautiful women to entertain? Something for the men of the world to think about before dismissing this movie in its entirety, there is something for you too.
As expected, on July 3rd when I entered the movie theatre, it was packed with females and a couple of males who probably had been dragged along by their significant other. The audience took a few minutes into the movie to get comfortable with the highly sexual nature of the film, there was a lot of giggling involved, but it was clear that everyone was on board to get into this movie. In this video, I reveal my personal opinions on Magic Mike. Watch the video here!
