Ted: A Movie for Big Kids
Who didn’t have a teddy bear when they were younger? Who doesn’t love their fair share of Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis? I’m sure all of y’all have heard of how great Ted is. I know not everyone goes to see movies right when they come out, or even while they’re in theaters. Before this summer, I hadn’t been to the movies since last May. So if you haven’t had the pleasure of viewing Ted yourself, I highly recommend that you fix that. It’s one of those movies where you can just sit back and enjoy the jokes. No thinking involved.
Okay, let’s take it from the top. There’s a little kid in the neighborhood, John Bennett (Mark Wahlberg), and none of the other kids let him play in their reindeer games. Even the loser kid who gets beat up doesn’t want John there. How sad is that? So for Christmas his parents get him this huge teddy bear, that’s like the size of him. Side note: I wish I had a huge teddy like that when I was younger…Thanks mom and dad. I kid, my kittens were more than enough! Anyway, since John has no real friends, he wishes that the bear was real. I think you can figure out what happens next. It’s a Christmas miracle and the bear is now real! Whooo!
Fast forward some years, and John is a mature full-grown man, who works for a rental car company and smokes with his bear. A real winner, right? Well, he was enough to get the beautiful Lori Collins (Mila Kunis). Except Lori starts to realize that all John does is hang out with his teddy. This leads to more shenanigans, and even some heart-string-pulling moments. Seth MacFarlane did a fabulous job with this movie. It’s worth however much you pay, but even nicer when you have a theater that only charges $4 like mine.
