The chief executive of the BlackBerry maker Research In Motion Thorsten Heins has expressed confidence that the company will get through its current situations, as stock prices in the company fall, five thousand jobs worldwide are to be cut and the BlackBerry 10 model is delayed.

In an interview with CBC Radio in Canada July 3, Heins said the Canadian firm is adjusting to a new technology model. “There’s nothing wrong with the company as it exists right now,” Heins said. “I’m not talking about the company as I, kind of, took it over six months ago. I’m talking about the company (in the) state it’s in right now.”

Heins added that BlackBerry had challenges in markets, specifically the United States, but sales had been strong in other markets. He said that was to continue and that BlackBerry 10 would in itself be a new way to address the smartphone. “This company is not ignoring the world out there, nor is it in a death spiral,” Heins said. “Yes, it is very, very challenged at the moment, specifically in the U.S. market. The way I would describe it: we’re in the middle of a transition. All that is in the making, it’s in the works. This company is in the middle of it and I’m positive we will\ emerge successfully from that transition.”

Research In Motion announced last week that the BlackBerry 10 model would be delayed and five thousand jobs would be cut worldwide, according to a report from the BBC. In addition, figures released yesterday show Research In Motion declining in the smartphone market in the US, according to a report from technology firm comScore, with the company facing a two percent decline in the market.
