Fashionable Takes on Interview Outfits
November isn’t the month you would be thinking about jobs or interviews (or maybe you are) but instead, you would be thinking about project deadlines, Thanksgiving dinner, and upcoming finals.
Besides all of this, you may be going through the process of recruiting. If so, congratulations! Recruiting for internships and jobs is exciting but daunting at the same time. For events, it is usually recommended to dress up either in business casual or business formal. This also applies to job or internship interviews. Depending on the company and if they give you a specific requirement on your outfit, it’s a good bet to be overdressed instead of underdressed.
Today, I have for you two fashionable takes on common interview outfits. Now, these can be quite bold so if that’s your style, then feel free to experiment; fashion is all about expressing yourself and having fun so why not do both in an environment when you’re trying to stand out from the other applicants?
Business Formal: When you think of “business formal,” you usually think of suits, right? Right! A common (and safe) color would be black. Grey and navy are also acceptable. However, if you really want to go out of the box, go with red.
Red symbolizes power (at least, that’s what I read online), which is why a lot of politicians wear red ties. A red blazer paired with loose, wide-legged trousers are great with a crisp, clean, white blouse. In addition, you can go with a classic black pump or you can go with these in the photo. They’re really unique from a regular black pump. To keep all of your important documents, store them in this 3.1 Philip Lim backpack.
Business Casual: “Business Casual” either entails a blouse and slacks, a blouse and a skirt, or a dress. Here, I featured the second option because I feel that being able to mix and match different pieces is key in fashion. This white blouse is a unique twist on a plain blouse with the piping details. Next, the printed pencil skirt takes this outfit to another level because it’s so bold but goes well with the blouse.
Like the other pumps, these black pumps are a step above a regular black pump with the cage detail. Lastly, a black studded briefcase is a must when going to interviews so don’t forget it! If the first option was a little too bold for you, stick with this one as it’s more muted and toned down.
